Children’s Calendar for March of Dimes

Many thanks to all the parents, grandparents and friends and family that have helped to make the 2012 March of Dimes Children’s Calendar a success. The calendar has images of 12 children taken by Sarah Lynn Seaton (moi!) Lots of help from my assistant Melissa Wilke with outstanding child wrangling and retouching skills. Graphic design by Karen Dockery and printing by Print Edge. We should have copies in our hands by the end of next week. If you choose to wait to the last minute to vote, please make sure to give yourself enough time to complete the credit card processing part of the voting to ensure that your vote counts. The payment is made thru paypal so make sure to register for paypal before the last day.

Thursday July 7th, 2011 3pm- Angel #1 has won the weekly votes with an additional 151 votes. Her mom will have lunch at the Silver Spoon, dessert from Mapgpies Bakery and a movie at a Regal Theatre. We are in the final stretch with only 5 more days to go. The top winners will not only be in the calendar but first, second and third places will receive the below prizes. First place will receive a weekend for 2 in the downtown Knoxville Hilton, breakfast included, Regal Cinema movie tickets and a gift certificate for dinner (location to be announced soon).The runner up will receive a complimentary studio session with Sarah Lynn Seaton, an 16×20 canvas, lunch at McAlisters deli for 2 and and a dozen mini cupcakes from Magpies Third place will receive a complimentary studio session with Sarah Lynn Seaton, and a 11×14 canvas.

You will receive 50 calendars and a business card sized space on the back of the calendar. This greatly helps with the printing costs and makes sure that all the money that possibly can will go to the March of Dimes. What a great way to help the March of Dimes and promote your business. Last year we were able to give the March of Dimes a check for $7500! Let’s beat that in 2011!!

Voting is back online!! We have made the decision to leave the site as is. There is a glitch with PayPal not talking with our site. Most of the voting will go thru the system but some votes are missed due to a programmer error with Paypal. (All orders go thru Paypal, they just might not appear on the leader board, or reflect in the total votes for each child.) Rather than spending more money on this issue (with web programming) we will be counting all the votes manually every night until the voting ends (and double-checking for accuracy). On the last night of voting we will be updating every 15 minutes (or just as fast as we can!!) We will count the votes that day until 11pm.

Fun Knoxville Wedding Photos

A Cheryl and Tim were a wedding couple full of excitement and ready to have some fun! Their wedding day was just that on a gorgeous May day at Cresent Bend. Barry and I couldn’t have been more pleased with the temperatures being in the 70’s with mostly cloudy skies, made for some incredible photos. The bride, Cheryl did not disappoint in a very unique beaded dress by Christina Wu that she found at I Do Weddings. Cheryl as well as most, if not all, of her bridesmaids have backgrounds in dance. They have danced in competitions and judged competitions all over the world so there was no doubt this bride was going to dress to impress her guests. Tim and his groomsmen were very stylish in their suits and sunglasses. I don’t think I have had another wedding where the groom gave us so many different looks and yes Barry and I were eating it up. This Knoxville wedding was full of excitement and anticipation. Cheryl didn’t stop smiling and was constantly saying how much fun this all was and couldn’t wait for her bridesmaids to get married so they could experience the joy. Her joy was contagious and it was great to see a bride focusing on all the fun instead of stressing over what could go wrong. When leaving the reception through the isle of rose petals Cheryl said “That was so much fun I want to do that again!”

The reception was decked out in bright spring colors in both the linens provided by All Occasions Party Rentals and the flowers designed by Always in Bloom. Barry and I enjoyed photographing all the details as well as all the amazing dance moves. Tasty food by All Occasions Catering. Thank you Jake from Ogle Entertainment for providing the never ending dance music to keep all those dancers on the floor. It was very entertaining and fun to watch, in fact I think Barry picked up a few new dance moves. Congratulations Cheryl and Tim! Knoxville Engagement Photos | Volunteer Landing

Just a few photos from an engagement session that Barry took on Volunteer Landing. Look for Cheryl and Tim’s wedding sneak peeks next week. Well I am totally inspired to get in shape after seeing these photos! Cheryl is a dancer/ teacher/ coach and Tim is also coach/trainer. Sitting at my computer all day… well MOTIVATE!! Just love the image that Barry did of Tim doing flips! need a fun title for that .. any ideas?? Are you are looking for super fun, not stuffy photos to celebrate your engagement with? Barry loves getting to know you before the wedding and getting you both comfortable in front of the camera. On your wedding day the smiles are natural and the click of the camera goes unnoticed. Love made Jenny Smile

Love is the word I would use to describe Jenny and Jeff, as well as their families, and the overall day. Looking at this adorable couple from behind the lens I felt the love they have for each other and couldn’t help but smile along with them. From Barry asking Jenny to stop looking at her groom for a moment and to look at the camera she replied “I can’t help it, look at him!” you immediately knew this wedding day was going to be special. This couple has had a long road to their big day with the news that Jenny had breast cancer a few weeks after Barry photographed their Engagement Session. They made the decision that cancer was not going to get in the way of beginning their lives together. With friends like Nicole, the maid-of-honor who immediately went out and bought a bright red wig to wear to show her love and support all the while saying we can still have some fun! Jenny and Jeff’s reception was just that! The reception took place St. Andrews Episcopal Church’s Reception Hall in Maryville and was decorated with gorgeous flowers by Echelon Florist. Guests enjoyed the amazing food by Fresh Fruit Catering while the Pour Boys made sure everyone who wanted a drink was well taken care of. Jenny may not have ben able to enjoy all the food her guests did, because of her chemo treatments, but she mentioned to me how happy she was that everyone was loving the food. The one thing she was very excited to do was cut the wedding cake and enjoy the amazing creation that MagPies made.

With the guests dancing away to the music provided by Casey Beaman (a former grooms of Barry’s which was a nice surprise to him), to the “kick Cancer’s Ass” red shoes because pink just isn’t strong enough worn by a close friend, along with the loving and emotional toasts given by Jenny’s Father (who wore a Susan G. Komen breast cancer awareness pin) and best man Scott, and with every hug and smile that was given that day Barry and I saw how blessed Jenny and Jeff are to have all of these wonderful people in their corner. Thank you Jenny and Jeff for letting Barry and I share in your most beautiful day. April Wedding photos

On April 16th 2011, Barry, Mel and I photographed a wedding of not just two people but two families. Kim Bordelon and Cullen Carter grew up states apart but met and fell in love only living feet from each other. Kim bought a house next door to Cullen, not realizing when she moved in she would meet her future husband. Not long after moving in Cullen asked her out and the rest is history!

Their spring wedding took place at the beautiful Maple Grove Inn located on the outskirts of Knoxville, Tennessee. Kim was a stunning bride with her hair perfectly in place, courtesy of AVEDA located on Market Square, (even if she was shivering uncontrollably). This was a very windy and cold day but the warmth coming from the love of Cullen and Kim was enough to radiate to everyone. The couple had a beach themed reception, to set the mood the tables were perfectly arranged with flowers, sand and shells by Samuel Franklin. Nothing was left out of this party including the music by Party Boys and the delicious buffet prepared by the Maple Grove Inn staff. The couple were showered with blessings from many family and friends including a close family friend Pat Head Summit. The guest were showered with a song from Pat…. can you guess what she chose? Later in the night both families joined together to participate in a little New Orleans heritage. Cullen and Kim emerged from the house with elegant umbrellas and led the Second Line across the dance floor. Second line dancing is a New Orleans tradition taking place at both weddings and funerals. The party did continue and will for years to come. Kim and Cullen relaxed and warmed up on their honeymoon in St. Lucia. We wish them forever happiness and health forever. - Jessica Grubb

Tulips in full bloom for Wedding blessing

We recently celebrated with Ken Liao and Vicky Shyr for their tradition wedding blessing. The day they chose turned out to be fantastic and all the tulips were in full bloom! This wedding was a beautiful mixture of eastern traditions and modern fun times. This family had everyone involved in the wedding planning from the many toast masters and hand made piggy placecard holders to a slideshow detailing the lives of Ken and Vicky and the families coming together. Love Vicki’s ring!-a heart shaped diamond. AND the purple! Purple flowers, purple bridesmaids dresses and fun argyle sweater vests for the guys. The beautiful house of Crescent Bend was decorated with flowers from Always in Bloom and accented by the amazing avatar creations all the way from Asia portraying the likeness of the bride and groom. Ogle Entertainment was wonderful providing the music during the slide show and throughout the evening. Thanks Jake. Ken and Vicky will be able to forever remember this day through video courtesy of Ryan’s Productions and Ryan Sutton. Thanks to Judy for all her hard work. Barry and I were so glad to be a part of this blessing and wish them many years of happiness.

Knoxville Spring Wedding

Barry and I recently shared a special spring wedding day with Shellee Loze and Cory Holt at Crescent Bend House and Gardens in Knoxville, Tennessee. These two have worked hard on adding to their Adventure Book throughout their relationship and started a new chapter on April 4^th 2011. This couple built their foundation on religion which will support them through the storms of life. They asked their guests to sign a rock instead of a guest book and pledge to help support that foundation. Page one started with a stormy day brewing, but the saying goes “Rain on your wedding day brings good luck to stay.” Before the raindrops fell we spent some great moments capturing this new family with their precious daughter, Kayla. Shellee was glowing with her bouquet from Always in Bloom as she walked down the aisle. She and Cory read their hand written vows and broke bread at their first communion as husband and wife while sweet music played from Ogle Entertainment. Then the party began. The friends and family toured the Armstrong Lockett house before All Occasions Catering served a delicious meal that was followed by music and dancing including the “hokey pokey” lead by Shellee, Thanks Jim. Everyone washed down the evening with cake, also by All Occasions, and a little taste from Shellee’s home state of Kentucky, Ale 8. Photographer studio programs top 15

While this post has little to do with weddings some clients do ask,”What am I paying for?” As our client you are paying for your artwork- whether it be a custom designed heirloom album or a framed wall portrait and our time and talents. But also to create your work takes equipment and software. Sara Tennessee asked yesterday, “Mommie, you went to art school why don’t you do art all day?” Good question dear. What I do do all day is use loads of computer programs. This is what it takes to create in 2011. We have between studio and home 10 mac computer stations. Course several of these are over 10 years old!! Crazy! Our staff all does different things so each of us uses different programs during the day. Mel and Barry are on Lightroom and Photoshop most of the day. We all edit in Iview media. Since I come from the old print world I still use Quark. Debbie and I and also use Successware for running the studio. (thanks to Judy Grann and team!!) I am a font junkie so Suitcase is loaded on my system. Iworks and word on all the machines. So I guess the ranking is a follows.
