It is all a little weird for us grown-ups when our parents date and then get remarried. But it is all good.. it is just different than when we were little.. but we are not little anymore. We are supposed to be grownup RIGHT?? My father passed away almost 15 years ago and no one can replace him in my heart. BUT there is certainly lots more room in my heart for someone else who loves and cherishes my mother. Three years ago friends from church introduced my mother to Coy Freeman, little did we know that they would get married this January. To make a really long story kinda short.. I’ve now have 2 new stepbrothers; one I went to art school with and another whose wedding we photographed eight years ago.. small world Knoxville is.. Welcome to the family: Mark, Jody, Andy, Katy, Jonathan, Matthew, Carter and Jackson!
Music is a big part of my mother and Coy’s lives so music was a big part of their special day. Coy’s life-long friend joined them on the day to awe us all with his playing on his Stradivarius. I’m pretty musically illiterate but WOW it was incredible.. there is nothing like it.
A grand time was held by all… simple ceremony at Second Presbyterian Church just with family members and an elegant champagne brunch across the street at Crescent Bend. Everything was perfect. Judy, the coordinator at Crescent Bend, had everything all organized and flowing smoothly. Great food by All Occasion Catering,Flowers by Leonard @ Always in Bloom and Cake by Magpies. … no honeymoon yet.. the next day was spent with all the grandkids!

I don’t usually get to know the grooms very much at all but Debbie and I got really used to Justin popping by the studio to chat and keep us up to date on the progress of their big day. Since they live just up the road from us I hope we have some new found friends to go out with!!
Mel was on board for the rehearsal which was at the Great Southern Brewing Co. in downtown Knoxville. Justin is a bit of a beer afficionado so the place was apropo!! Seems as if a great time was held by all.
On to the big day which took place at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and then on to the Crowne Plaza right after the ceremony. Bella Fiori Florist arrived with beautiful bright fall colors that complemented all the details that Justin and Rachelle had put together.
Lots of fun details, Converse shoes worn by the groomsmen, great CD put together by Justin and all around good time had by all!! The icing on the cake .. so to speak was the groom’s cake by Peggy of Magpies. Is it a cake or a Guinness?
ok.. why did Barry end up with so many pictures of you guys kissing? Guess you are off to a great start!! All the best. SLS

Kristi Willocks and Justin Stringfield became man and wife at Butterfly Gap this past fall. East Tennessee has had the wettest fall in decades and Krist and Justin managed to find a day where there was space in between the clouds to celebrate their nuputials. Kristi chose bright vibrate, autumn colors for her bouquet designed by Coulter Florists of Maryville. Red dresses for her bridesmaids pulled the entire color scheme together. Neal from All Occasions Catering once again created yummy and fun food! Hamburgers, a french fry bar with assorted toppings and to top it off an ice cream bar for the groom’s cake.
All of our upcoming brides will get a 6 pence to go in their shoe. Barry gave one to Kristi which she managed to attach to her sandal. This British tradition comes from an old rhyme which goes….
“Something old, something new
Something borrowed, something blue
And a sixpence for her shoe.”
Visit http://www.sixpenceco.com/ for entire story to bring good luck to the bride.

Macqueline and Nathan tied the knot October 9, 2009 at Tellico Yacht Club in Loudon, Tennessee. The best thing about it besides really superb flowers by Lisa Foster (outdoes herself again!!) and rocking music by the Retroholics was the event that was totally unplanned… an incredible rainbow. That has really got to mean good luck in marriage. The ceremony was held off for about twenty minutes, the sky cleared and what an awesome sight.

Taking the liberty of reposting an article from Mashable, which is a really cool how to educational site for bloggers. To start with the writer is a guy Josh Cantone– by that I mean male. That’s good but.. most guys that come to the studio aren’t very involved with all the details of the wedding day. We do see quite a few of you guys that are interested in the photography. Most of the time the colors and flowers and other stuff is left up to MOB and the bride. Anyway.. neat post starts with colors and ends with booking your honeymoon.
Since I ( Barry’s wife here) am kinda of a geek about planning, goal setting and organizing this was right up my alley. The article of course lists Etsy which has soo many really neat things to blow the budget on. Make sure that you look in the wedding category on Etsy. MyRegistry.com was pretty helpful too– think most guys would be better off choosing the dishes and other goodies in the comfort or their pj’s.. At least I know Barry would –as shopping isn’t too high up on his priority list. Well unless it is for camera gear and music. Guess the coolest looking site one to me was the Wedding Wire IPhone app. Let me know what you think.
