“Michael Roger Langlais…you are my best friend.  You are the first and only guy that I’ve ever been completely myself and completely comfortable with.  I knew you were the one for me when I saw that I could act the way I do around my family with you.  My family members are the closest people in my life and I never hold anything back with them.  So, if I was acting that way around you, then I knew you were the one for me.  We’re not afraid to tell each other what we’re thinking and feeling, and because of that, we are both mutually respectful and aware of each other’s feelings.  We have the same beliefs and life goals. What  a fun party they had, steel drum music and goldfish swimming in the vases on all the tables. Think the best was the speeches made by Missi’s parents and Matt’s friends.. I didn’t even know these guys and was in tears…

The beauty of an outdoor ceremony, when everything comes together, is that bright California look. Even more dramatic can be the lighting and clouds brought on by inclement weather. So an outdoor wedding ceremony at Crescent Bend, with its lovely layered gardens, has lots going for it. While some understandably can’t handle the element of risk with the weather, many of those who can do reap the rewards.

Suzanne and Chad rolled the dice and lucked out with the storms. All the family photographs and ceremony were completed before the cool clouds turned menacing and then followed thru with their promise.

(DJ Jim Ogle kept his laptop on the local radar and we planned on clearing his exposed ceremony sound gear asap. Unfortunately Murphy’s Law had it’s way with his covered sound equipment, near the end of the reception when it rained cats and dogs. After his third piece went out was the only time i’ve seen him not smiling. It rained so hard it splashed back in under the tent.)

The pretty bouquet was placed in the fountain by a groomsman immediately following the ceremony. And the last teaser image here is to illustrate “a little” photoshop lighting retouching. A little on the heavy side to add some drama.

…. and as everybody waived them off from indoors, Suzanne and Chad ran out to their car in the rain for their exit. Pulling out my scuba camera gear I was able to follow without fear ….. but you’ll have to wait for their finalised album design to be posted here to see those images.

An outdoor wedding was one criteria, but potential weather issues were a large consideration picking the location. So a World’s Fair Park wedding became an L & N Station Building wedding, where the reception was already planned. This meant a white carriage ride could still happen. And the ceremony to reception transition would be easy.

Time and technology came together for Kellie and Jake, and their downtown First Sight photographs. iPhone radar weather tracking from weatherunderground.com showed them there would be a small break in the weather … and they’d built in enough time to take advantage of it. Thanks to Mel for being the umbrella and transportation gaffer. And finding an unusual portrait location.

The journal didn’t last long, but here it is back again, in all its glory. All are welcome to this journey, as it takes shape……….

This was such a fun wedding – you know, it makes a huge difference when the groomsmen have made the decision that they are gonna have fun with this thing too.

Beaver Creek Presbyterian Church is tucked away behind Clinton Highway, you just wouldn’t know its there, and this was the second outing there for me. ( Kandi Walker’s wedding was our first there in 2004, and with her we discovered the beautiful leather books made by Graphi in Italy.

Riding the trolley to the reception always seems to kick start the party, and everybody was ready to do their thing once they got to the Foundry. Here you go, enjoy …. look out for the vertical panoramas.
